Careers 4.0 at the 36th International CIF Conference, Mumbai
Careers 4.0 reached a truly global audience with its participation in the 36th International CIF Conference, held in Mumbai in November 2025.
Representing the European University Cyprus, Dr Eleni Athanasiou presented the paper “Careers 4.0: Training and Skills Assessment Methodologies for Career Guidance Professionals in the Digital Era”, highlighting key elements of the project’s work on training models and assessment tools for future-ready career guidance professionals.
The presentation was delivered within a panel focusing on work in an increasingly digitised world, contributing to international dialogue on digital transformation, skills development, and the evolving role of career guidance in complex social and labour-market contexts.
Participation in the CIF Conference provided an important opportunity to exchange perspectives with academics, practitioners, and researchers from across the globe, and to situate the Careers 4.0 approach within broader discussions on technology, employability, and social change.

WHAT’s NEXT project
The WHAT’s NEXT project, created by CMBRAE, Salvați Copiii, and Banca Transilvania, supports students in making informed educational and career choices.
Designed for middle school and high school students, the project offers structured guidance adapted to today’s challenges.
Together with the CAREERS 4.0 approach it focuses on future skills and personal development.
Students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengths, and career options.
The project provides practical tools that help teachers and counsellors guide students effectively. It promotes confidence, motivation, and responsible decision-making.
WHAT’s NEXT contributes to a clearer and more meaningful career pathway for young people.

AI Month-Successful Completion of the Career Guidance and Counselling Conference organized by EUC
On 28 November 2025, the Career Guidance and Counselling Conference was successfully held in Athens, organised by the European University Cyprus (EUC) in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The conference served as a key reference point for Greece and Cyprus in the fields of career guidance, vocational orientation, and education–labour market linkage, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities emerging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and youth skills development.
The event was part of AI Month 2025, an initiative launched by EUC, featuring more than 30 lectures, talks, presentations, and workshops throughout the month, bringing together academics, researchers, and professionals working in AI, education, and guidance.
Under the central theme “Contemporary Challenges and Perspectives in Career Guidance, Counselling and Labour Market Integration: Artificial Intelligence and Skills Development for Young People”, the conference attracted a large and diverse audience, including career counsellors, educators, academics, researchers, and policy stakeholders from Greece and Cyprus.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor V. Scott Solberg (Boston University – Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, USA), who explored global trends in career guidance, skills development, and the role of AI in shaping educational and career pathways.
A roundtable discussion followed, bringing together representatives from academia, public institutions, and the labour market, focusing on AI, human development, employability, and decision-making. The Careers 4.0 project was presented in detail and generated strong interest among participants. Particular emphasis was placed on the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in career guidance and counselling, as well as on the ethical dimensions associated with their application.
The conference concluded with parallel sessions and hands-on workshops, highlighting the importance of connecting research, academic knowledge, and practice in career guidance during the digital transition. The European University Cyprus remains committed to advancing high-quality initiatives in education, innovation, and skills development, contributing actively to the future of career guidance and learning.

Young people and work 4.0: Barile hosts the final conference of the European Careers 4.0 project
On 27 November, the final conference presenting the results of the Careers 4.0 project was held at the headquarters of Ente Pro Loco Basilicata in Barile. The initiative was launched as part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme with the aim of supporting career guidance processes in the world of work 4.0, in a context of digitalisation, automation and continuous changes in the skills required by the labour market.
The meeting was organised by iInformatica S.r.l., represented by Giulio Setzu, who illustrated the free tools developed by the partnership and available free of charge on the Careers 4.0 platform, designed to help young people and those seeking to orient themselves in the world of work 4.0 on the one hand, and guidance counsellors who wish to innovate their working practices on the other. In particular, the project results presented were: a chatbot designed to measure users’ soft skills using a metric inspired by the RIASEC model; a virtual tour with “360 rooms”, where users can interact with objects representing different sectors of work 4.0 and, through an immersive experience inspired by emerging professions, identify their aptitudes and real work interests; finally, a free training course on Work 4.0 issues, to provide professional guidance counsellors and career advisors with knowledge and tools to navigate a rapidly changing job market.
The project involves the collaboration of a large European consortium involving partners from different countries: the CMBRAE Municipal School Counselling Centre in Bucharest (Romania), the career guidance company PROGRESSUS Research & Counselling (Greece), the European University of Cyprus (Cyprus), the data analysis company Qualificalia Analytics S.L. (Spain) and, from Italy, two organisations based in Matera: Studio Risorse S.R.L., a training centre and employment agency, and iInformatica S.r.l., an innovative SME and private research centre.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ente Pro Loco Basilicata and young people interested in career guidance: students, civil service volunteers and young people looking for concrete opportunities in the job market. The president of Ente Pro Loco Basilicata, Rocco Franciosa, was satisfied, commenting enthusiastically: ‘A useful tool for guiding our young people and civil service volunteers who are looking for their way in a constantly evolving world. In a context dominated by artificial intelligence, it is becoming increasingly important to assess one’s soft skills, recognise one’s strengths and prepare to face new professional challenges with confidence.’
Thanks to the collaboration between international partners, technological tools and training resources, Careers 4.0 offers concrete support for young people, students and professionals in the career guidance sector: an opportunity to find their way, train and build a path consistent with the needs of the current and future job market.

During ACADEMIA exchange entitled „The contribution of guidance in enhancing the employability of consultants” that took place in Switzerland, Geneva and Lausanne, 5-8 of May, 2025, CMBRAE was offered the opportunity to present valuable information about Careers 4.0 Project, in front of a group of career counsellors from different European countries, such as Ireland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Germany, Denmark, France, Greece, Austria and Switzerland. The presentation made available the most relevant information about the project, respectively development of a new conceptual framework and a toolkit regarding career skills and information related to the labour market in the context of Industry 4.0. The objectives of the project were approached, the emphasis being put on aspects as follows: supporting students in identifying their skills and talents and career paths using digital tools, enhancing guidance and career counsellors to assist youth make career decisions in the digital age, promoting a modern, inclusive approach to career counselling, and generally preparing the young generations for a dynamic and changing labour market characterized by the emergence of new jobs. Also, within the project a platform, a metaverse virtual environment and a chatbot for the administration of orientation quizzes are being developed, together with a a physical support into the form of a card game presenting jobs of the future connected to the digital world. In June 2025, a training course for career counsellors will take place in Cyprus and will be provided by European University of Cyprus (EUC) from Nicosia. The expected impact relates to increased digital readiness in career guidance, more inclusive and personalized support for students, strengthened collaboration between schools, communities and labour markets, long-term improvement in youth employability across Europe.

Immersion in career counselling through digital/ AI resources in a green, sustainable and happy world
Between 12-16 May 2025, CMBRAE hosted the ACADEMIA exchange, a useful, important event for career counsellors from 6 different European countries: Germany, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Slovakia, Denmark. Thus, key insights about CAREERS 4.0 project were highlighted, triggering interest in school and career counsellors involved in this event. The project’s objectives are to support students in identifying their skills, and potential career paths through digital tools, empower guidance and career counsellors in helping young people make informed career decisions in the digital era, promote a modern and inclusive approach to career counselling and to prepare the younger generations for a dynamic and ever-evolving labour market shaped by emerging job roles. Within the project, a new Career Competencies Framework has already been developed, setting the core hard and soft skills highly valued in the labour market from the industry 4.0 perspective, as well as a toolkit focused on career skills necessary in career planning of individuals. The project is developing a platform, a metaverse virtual environment, a chatbot for the administration of orientation quizzes for the users, and a card game with future jobs related to the digital context. Another important event will take place in 16-17 June 2025, a training course for practitioners, specialists, stakeholders and school/ career counsellors etc. which will be provided by European University of Cyprus (EUC). The expected impact relates to modernizing career guidance in the digital age, equipping educators with tools aligned with Industry 4.0, promoting digital and soft skills in students as well as strengthening cross-European cooperation in education.

An important conference entitled Equity and Diversity. Policies and Practices in Education. Transforming Education. AI and Digitalization in the Modern Era was held at Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University for teachers, students. Educational managers, career/ school counsellors etc. CMBRAE delivered an interactive presentation which included facts and good practices about the Erasmus+ project Careers 4.0. The project brings together a dynamic consortium of partners from across Europe, united in their commitment to shaping the future of career education and guidance in the era of digital transformation and Industry 4.0. The partnership includes CMBRAE (Romania), Studio Risorse (Italy), iInformatica (Italy), Qualificalia (Spain), Progressus (Greece),EUC(Cyprus), organizations with strong expertise in education, training, and digital innovation. The main objective of Careers 4.0 is to bridge the gap between current career guidance practices and the rapidly evolving demands of the digital labour market. The project aims to: equip educators, trainers, and career counselors with innovative tools and methodologies aligned with the competencies required in the context of Industry 4.0, develop career guidance resources that reflect the digital and technological transformations shaping the world of work, foster digital literacy and soft skills among students and jobseekers to prepare them for smart industries, encourage a European dimension in career education. The Careers 4.0 project will deliver: a comprehensive toolkit for digital career guidance, including best practices, case studies, and interactive materials; training modules focused on Industry 4.0 job profiles and digital skill development; a virtual career orientation platform offering access to resources, job market trends, and digital self-assessment tools; increased awareness among youth and educators regarding the importance of lifelong learning and adaptability in future careers.

Technology is changing the world of work. Robots, AI, and smart systems are already creating new types of jobs. CMBRAE through CAREERS 4.0 participate at this transformation.
As the fourth industrial revolution reshapes global economies, Careers 4.0 addresses the urgent need to realign education and training systems with the realities of automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and smart technologies. The project emphasizes:
- transformation of traditional jobs and the emergence of hybrid roles that require both technical and transversal skills
- need for career guidance systems that are digitalized and informed by labour market intelligence
- importance of preparing learners not only for jobs that exist today but for careers that will evolve or emerge in the next decade
By fostering cross-border collaboration and digital innovation in career guidance, Careers 4.0 Project supports the development of a resilient workforce, ready for the future and contributes to the European vision of a competitive, inclusive, and digitally advanced society. Careers 4.0 helps schools and guidance systems to prepare youth for the digital, smart, and sustainable jobs of tomorrow. This will be achieved by showing what jobs of the future will look like, helping youth to discover their strengths and digital skills, connecting them with modern, interactive career resources. Also, the presentation was dedicated to the transformation of career information and counselling from the perspective of digitalization at first SMART LAB initiated by INACO and SHAPE ROBOTICS in Romania. 12 career counsellors from 6 European countries/ Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Norway, Slovakia and Sweden together with the school/ career counselling specialists from CMBRAE and the network of specialists from Romania intelligently, creatively, with openness and optimism, shared good practices, etc. the new resources generated by artificial intelligence for a sustainable, green and happy world of the future.

Careers 4.0, a new Erasmus+ project, involves six European partners with CMBRAE (Romania) as coordinator, Studio Risorse and iInformatica (Italy), Qualificalia (Spain), Progressus (Greece), and EUC (Cyprus) to transform career education in response to Industry 4.0 and digitalization. The project aims to modernize career guidance by developing innovative tools and training programs for teachers, aligning them with the skills and jobs of the future. Key outcomes include a digital career guidance toolkit, a virtual orientation platform, and targeted training resources for educators and counselors. In a time of rapid technological change, Careers 4.0 prepares students not just for jobs of today, but for the evolving roles of tomorrow where adaptability, digital skills, and innovation are essential.
